Across Central Europe, particularly Bavaria, Krampusnacht is celebrated on the night of the 5th of December, when Krampus, a half-goat half-demon being, visits naughty children and terrorises the town. He snatches them up in his sack, and steals them away. On the 6th, St Nicholas comes and brings reward.
